Hi there, I'm Dixie

I am a female, black and tan Rottweiler and Doberman Pinscher (white collar). ***Staff thinks I will be ready by early December. My foster family says, Dixie is a real sweetie. She is playful and energetic but likes being held and cuddled. She will probably grow to be a fairly large pup and will need lots of attention and exercise. She knows how to use a doggy door but is still getting the hang of potty training. She is still too young to be totally house-trained, but she will catch on quickly if time is taken to train her. She could probably be crate trained, but would not be happy if left alone for long periods of time. She will cry when hungry or when she needs to go out. However, once she is separated from her siblings, she might also cry when she wants some love and attention. She will make a wonderful cuddle buddy.*** I am not currently at the shelter because I'm growing big and strong in a foster home! You can sign up to pre-adopt me by placing a $50 choice hold. This is a non-refundable fee that does not go towards my adoption fee, but it does give you the first opportunity to adopt me. Shelter staff will contact you when I’m ready to go home with my new family! To place a choice hold, you can either come into the shelter or call us at 719-473-1741 you may wait to speak with a customer service representative or leave a voicemail. Choice holds are placed on a first-come, first-serve basis and only one choice hold can be placed on an animal.Once I am old enough to go home, I will have to be adopted at the shelter without a visit. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to visit while I’m in the foster home as it’s a lot of stress on me to be transported back and forth to the shelter for visits, which makes me more susceptible to getting sick. We want to be healthy for our new life together!
