Hi there, I'm Hazel

I am a female, black Domestic Shorthair (pink collar). I am not declawed. ***Staff thinks I will be ready by early to mid-September. My foster family says Hazel is the diminutive leader of this pack of kittens. She is the tiniest, but the fiercest. In the morning, when the food bowls get refilled, Hazel gets to eat while everyone else watches. If anyone tries to politely share with her, she gives them a growl and pushes them away with her paw, while continuing to eat. After a few moments of “talk to the hand,” the other kittens get the idea and back off. She is named for a book character who is the child of Hades/Pluto and therefore has the powers of the Underworld at her disposal. She definitely holds power over her siblings! *** I am not currently at the shelter because I'm growing big and strong in a foster home! You can sign up to pre-adopt me by placing a $50 choice hold. This is a non-refundable fee that does not go towards my adoption fee, but it does give you the first opportunity to adopt me. Shelter staff will contact you when I’m ready to go home with my new family! To place a choice hold, you can either come into the shelter or call us at 719-473-1741 you may wait to speak with a customer service representative or leave a voicemail. Choice holds are placed on a first-come, first-serve basis and only one choice hold can be placed on an animal.Once I am old enough to go home, I will have to be adopted at the shelter without a visit. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to visit while I’m in the foster home as it’s a lot of stress on me to be transported back and forth to the shelter for visits, which makes me more susceptible to getting sick. We want to be healthy for our new life together!
