I am a female, gray Chinchilla. ***Staff thinks I will be ready by mid January. Dorito is an active little lady. She needs a family who will be patient and work with her on being social, and having positive human interactions. In her time with us she has warmed up some and will tolerate petting, especially if there are treats involved. She currently does not like being handled, but she is getting better with time. *** You can sign up to pre-adopt me by placing a $50 choice hold. This does not go towards my adoption fee but does give you first right to visit and adopt me prior to anyone else. Shelter staff will then contact you when I am ready to go with my new family. To place a choice hold, you can either come into the shelter or call us at 719-473-1741 option 2 leave a message and your call will be returned in the order received. Choice holds are placed on a first-come, first-serve basis and only one choice hold can be placed on an animal. For the privacy of my wonderful foster home, we won't be able to meet before I am ready for adoption. It's also a lot of stress on me to be transported back and forth to the shelter for visits, which makes me more susceptible to getting sick prior to returning for adoption. It's best I stay healthy before starting our new life together!
